Wii Price Hike in the UK
At this moment the governments of the world are pursuing and economic plan that is based on issuing more credit into the market. Currency is really just based on a credit/debit system now, the old days of dollars for labor are gone. This is the problem…each dollar borrowed becomes an addition to the money supply. As more dollars are borrowed into creation, the value of the other dollars is weakened. It will take more of those dollars to purchase things made from labor (which have true value).
Wii retailers in the UK are about to experience this devaluation. Wii is expected to raise its trading price by £16.50 due to the “continuing depreciation of the pound”. This article by Chrisopher Dring explains the problem and who it will effect first.
Rising prices like this will continue so long as we continue printing money. Nintendo may be confidant that sales will continue so long as the “quality of software continues”, but necessity eventually overwhelms entertainment. Quality software is great, but not having the money to buy the product to begin with is another problem altogether.
