iPhone 3G unlocking software updated; should work now (hopefully)

Matt Burns at Crunchgear writes

Yellowsn0w, the illustrious iPhone 3G unlocking software, dropped with the Times Square Ball yesterday, but the first beta edition didn’t work for many. Hopefully the updated 0.9.4 beta from the iPhone Dev Team should resolve those issues and allow all those Jesusphone 3Gs to be released from their AT&T shackles.

There’s been a lot of hubbub about yellowsn0w in the blogosphere lately…a lot of cheap shots at other software packages and a lot of hype because yellowsn0w comes from the Iphone Dev Team. For example, this post suggests that yellowsn0w is the very first software to unlock the Iphone 3G. Unlock Apple Iphone has been providing a way to unlock the 3G for weeks now and I’ve gotten great reviews from people who have used their service.

I’m not saying yellowsn0w isn’t a great software option…it’s unfortunate that the first beta didn’t work for many, but I’m sure future releases will be much better and much more reliable. As for me, I’ll stick to Unlock Apple Iphone until yellowsn0w proves itself over time.
