Wii Price Hike in the UK
At this moment the governments of the world are pursuing and economic plan that is based on issuing more credit into the market. Currency is really just based on a credit/debit system now, the old days of dollars for labor are gone. This is the problem…each dollar borrowed becomes an addition to the money supply. As more dollars are borrowed into creation, the value of the other dollars is weakened. It will take more of those dollars to purchase things made from labor (which have true value).
Wii retailers in the UK are about to experience this devaluation. Wii is expected to raise its trading price by £16.50 due to the “continuing depreciation of the pound”. This article by Chrisopher Dring explains the problem and who it will effect first.
Rising prices like this will continue so long as we continue printing money. Nintendo may be confidant that sales will continue so long as the “quality of software continues”, but necessity eventually overwhelms entertainment. Quality software is great, but not having the money to buy the product to begin with is another problem altogether.

Pikmin and Power Tennis come to New Play Control! for Wii
Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis, two major hits for the Gamecube, are now being revived. Both of these games have been reworked to include the innovative wii controls and are now displayed in widescreen 16:9.
Obviously Nintendo is making some very smart choices right now. Bringing back these two titles, and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat coming May 4, is sure to be a big hit for the already popular nintendo wii. These games were popular for their gameplay and that’s where Nintendo is really focusing right now.
Pikmin is a smart choice for Nintendo because of it’s addicting gameplay and entertaining story. Captain Olimar only has 30 days to get home and his inch-tall pikmin are his only hope. And Mario Power Tennis is sure to catch the eye of Wii Sports fans.

HT-CT100 Has Evolved : HT-CT500 is Unveiled by Sony
From here,
Sony has been making some big decisions lately about which products to improve and market heavily and which ones to scale back on. In the 2008 Sony released the HT-CT100. A two-part system; a small soundbar and a decent subwoofer. The problem was the amount of subwoofer-based connection jacks. Basically, it was a hassle to set up but was otherwise a decent single-speaker audio setup.
Now Sony has decided to step it up a notch.
The HT-CT500 takes all of the good parts of the HT-CT100 and gets rid of the nasty mess. John P. Falcone had this to say,
Unlike the HDMI-only HT-CT100, the 500 supplements its three HDMI inputs with two component jacks and several audio inputs as well–and those analog inputs can be upconverted to HDMI output, so you’ll need just a single cable running to your TV.
The HT-CT500 also features 400-watt power and supports Sony’s 3.1ch S-Force PRO Front Surround technology. Additional details include a Wider Speaker, 3 HDMI ports, Dolby Digital, FM Tuner, and Walkman interface.
The HT-CT500 will hit stores in June of 2009 for around $500.

Will Sony Swallow it’s PS3 Pride?
According to engadget, an analyst from janco (Mike Hickey) is predicting that Sony will have to cut it’s PS3 price in the very near future to make it more sellable in an economic nightmare. The PS3 was designed to be a high-end gaming system that leaves gamers with their jaws on the floor in amazement. Unfortunately, those gamers that the PS3 was meant to attract are losing their jobs, having trouble with their bills, and watching their economy collapse around them. The reality of the situation has hurt Sony in PS3 sales and their refusal to lower prices has done nothing but drive these gamers to another system…The Nintendo Wii.
Will $100 price reduction give the PS3 a rise in sales? Click here for more details.
